Samos Town, The capitol of Samos Island, typically Greek it is the centre of commerce. Samos town is a vibrant port with many ships in harbour, this is also the place to catch the many ferries available to other Greek islands. Home of the islands Archaeology Museum, the town of Samos, also known as Vathi has a rich blend of old and new. Visit the old quarter for a trip into the past. Ample car parking is available here and you will find many tavernas, bars and the best shopping on the island.
Kokkari, A favourite with windsurfers, Kokkari has a wonderful pebbled beach which lies in front of the resort itself. Lined with tavernas and bars this is a popular resort with a good number of hotels and apartments.
Karlovasi, Karvolasi enjoys a wonderful position located approximately 30 kilometres from Samos Town. The resort boasts a long sandy beach and offers many watersports a good selection of tavernas and cafes.
Pythagorion, Pythagorio was the capital of Samos until the 19th century and is now a vibrant harbour town. Featuring a long harbourside with many fishing boats in harbour. There are tavernas and hotels along the edge of the harbour and it is possible to sit back with a long cool drink and people watch.
Kambos, Marathakambos, Voltsalakia, Kambos is found to the south of the island located at the foot of mount kerkis. A 2km long sand/shingle beach with crystal blue waters perfect for bathing is found here. A quiet resort with all the facilities you would expect from a perfect holiday destination.
Balos, Balos is a relaxed and quiet village located down a winding road off the main road to Pythagorion from Kambos. An authentic greek taverna and a couple of small b&B establishments make up this largely residential village. But it is the seashore that marks this as a must see on Samos. The beach is shingle and a small number of sunbeds are available. The perfect place to relax and unwind whilst dreaming of being Shirley Valentine!
Psili Amos, Rated by many as the best beach on the island, Psili Amos is very picturesque if not a little buys at times. A lovely place to relax and unwind. Sunbeds are in ample supply and there are a number of cafes and tavernas dotted around the side of the beach which is soft and golden. The sea here is shallow and is a safe place to swim. Well worth a visit.
Ormos, Ormos is a pretty fishing village located aproximatly 1 mile from Kambos. Here you will find a small selection of traditional tavernas offering great seafood dishes along with all many of other Greek and International fayre. A great spot to try your hand at fishing yourself and boat trips can be organised from here.
